Wedding Emergency Kit: Must Haves

Listen, we’re going to be brutally honest with you. There is about a 10% chance your wedding is going to go absolutely perfectly. Sorry, we know that’s not what you want to hear. Truth is, there is a very high chance something unpredictable might happen. It could be a group of cousins running late or a rip in a dress (hopefully not!)

No matter how careful and organized you are, shit happens. It’s just life. But don’t panic. 100% of things are able to be fixed. Trust me.

An absolute essential for any wedding is the wedding emergency kit. We’re talking about a kit that has almost everything and anything in it. Because you never know. And because this happens so often, many companies have made emergency wedding kit checklists or even a package you can buy. While these are helpful, we wanted to help you truly plan for the worst.

However, there are some things many people tend to forget. We’re not going to talk about the standard list items you’ll see on the internet like a lint roller, Advil, hairspray, etc. You can find these on other websites. Girl, we’re here to actually help you out. Let’s get started.

12 Must-Haves in Your Wedding Kit

While there are many websites to help decide what you should pack in your wedding kit, they’re usually all pretty standard items. It honestly gets repetitive and may not be as helpful for certain couples. The items listed below are for both the groom and bride. So let us tell you some other things you need to pack.

  • Mounting Putty: If you’re having an outdoor wedding, you need to get this. This will save your butt. Mounting putty will help keep decorations in place even on a windy day.
  • Super Glue: In the case that there is a broken nail, heel, jewelry, or decoration, super glue will (most likely) fix it.
  • Nipple pasties / boob tape: Even if you’re planning on wearing a bra, bring nipple pasties or boob tape. You just never know if and when you’ll need them.
  • Magic Eraser: Especially if you’re having an outdoor wedding, you might want to pack one of these along. Not only do they get rid of stains on your shoes, you can also use them for tooth stains. Or if you’re using a whiteboard for decorations, this will help remove the marker.
  • Extra Cufflinks: These are so tiny that they’re incredibly easy to lose – just like airpods. Bring extras just in case the groom or groomsmen lose theirs.
  • Lotion: People are so stressed that they forget lotion! You do not want your hands to look dry and crusty while exchanging the rings. Use hand lotion that is non greasy too.
  • Extra long black socks & pantyhosue: This is pretty self explanatory. There will always be that one guy who forgets long black socks. And we all know the struggle with pantyhose.
  • Extra pair of under garments: Sometimes, couples don’t try on their dress or suit with the undergarment they plan on wearing. Although they think it’ll look fine underneath, sometimes that’s not the case. Bring a different style and color just in case.
  • Bug Spray: Winter wedding couples – you can probably skip this one but for everyone else, pack some! Pack multiple bottles actually.
  • Fake Wedding Ring: Huh? Did you guys really think the ring bear walks down an isle with an expensive ring? Silly goose. The ring bear usually carries a fake set of the rings (for obvious reasons). The best man holds onto the real rings and then gives them to the couple when they’re ready to exchange rings.
  • Extra lenses: You may think you don’t need to pack an extra pair, but it’s so important! What if you itch your eye and rip a contact? Even worse, one falls out because your eye is dry from all the stress and not enough sleep from the anxiety the night before? Along with this, bring extra contact solution and eye drops.
  • Extra lashes: There are two different women in the world: the ones who get lash extensions and the ones that wear fake lashes for special occassions. Bring an extra set of fake eyelashes – you just might never know when you’ll need them

Other standard items include mouthwash, sewing kit, bandaids, safety pins, q-tips, bobby pins, clear nail polish, and much more.

Our goal is to give you more than the standard items to actually help you in the case of an emergency at your wedding. With this being said, we hope this brought some of your anxiety down. You got this!!
